Mencius’ View on Role Model for Tao Cultivators

Mencius established a role model for Tao Cultivators. According to Mencius, a Tao Cultivator needs to value benevolence and righteousness above credits and material gains. A role model for Tao Cultivator should constitute the following characteristics:

(1)	Not to delude oneself about Tao in face of wealth and honors;
(2)	Not to swerve from Tao in circumstances of destitution and inferiority; and,
(3)	Not to bend by twisting Tao to the awe-inspiring display of force.
